Mentoring 2 Work - a tailored mentoring program by Paul Abbott (COTA WA)

COTA WA (Council of the Ageing in WA) is running a pilot program called Mentoring 2 Work that is supported by the Try, Test and Learn Fund - an initiative of the Australian Department of Social Services which is focused on creating individual and career pathways for young adults aged between 18 - 25 who are receiving a Centrelink payment and are at risk of long term unemployment.

For the young adults participating, they will be provided with an opportunity to choose a mentor, co-create a career map and gain continuing support along their journey into worthwhile, sustainable and secure employment.

The mentors are sourced from a number of industries and sectors having met stringent requirements such as being able to demonstrate a suitable level of work and professional experience, providing 2 professional referees and a current National Police Clearance.

Participation is completely voluntary and is being ran across the Perth North region in stages.
